Hello, Internet World! I’m Lea, and I’m taking a leap of faith on leap day 2024. Today, 29th of February 2024, I’m starting this new website.
Starting a website and a blog isn’t exactly a leap of faith nowadays, right? For me, however, this is a big leap because I’ve decided to listen to this lingering feeling, given an extra push by some friends, telling me to use my name and put more of myself out there. This feels very vulnerable to me, scary and out of my comfort zone, which is probably why I need to do this if I were to get closer to making my dreams come true.
THE MAGIC OF WRITING DOWN YOUR DREAMS
I’m also declaring some audacious dreams today. It is a leap day after all, and what better day than today to take a big, audacious leap to bring me closer to my dreams. Inspired by something author Beth Kempton (one of my most beloved, most favorite authors and sources of inspiration) wrote recently in her Substack newsletter, I started writing down my dreams in a notebook, dreams that I am manifesting and calling into fruition, dreams I am sending out to the universe, so “all the universe conspires in helping you achieve it.” (The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho)
In her newsletter, Beth Kempton writes:
“Warning: May contain audacious dreams,” Beth Kempton, Substack
I commented on her newsletter, saying that I was inspired by what she said and that I too would write my dreams down in a notebook.
Some of the big dreams I listed down, and by that, I mean the big goals I want to have achieved four years from now, on leap day 2028:
- – published a book, sold at least 10,000 copies
- – working on another book
- – running a successful, sustainable online business
- – living in a cozy condo or apartment with my husband in a peaceful, beautiful, walkable city
Well, goosebumps. Sharing these goals here is scary, and perhaps necessary. I am keeping a lot more closer to my chest for now, maybe to share with some close friends, with a few accountability partners down the line. I’m keeping this long list of dreams and goals in my precious notebook which I hope will sustain me and my audacious dreams during the many days, weeks, months, and years ahead.
How about you? How about grabbing your favorite notebook (or any notebook really; don’t overthink it like I did), and making a list of your big, audacious dreams and goals?
THE BOLDNESS OF A LEAP OF FAITH
I was pleasantly surprised when I opened my podcast app and a bonus episode of Beth Kempton’s Calm Christmas podcast started playing, an episode entitled “FAREWELL WINTER, a special episode for the turning of the season (Season 3, Episode 11).” In the early part of the episode, she talks about the idea of taking a leap of faith during leap day. How about it, how about choosing to take a leap or even a small step closer to your dream? How about choosing to do something concrete and specific, and perhaps telling someone about it?
And the part where you TAKE A LEAP? How about connecting with me so we can share our dreams with each other, and MEETING AGAIN DURING THE NEXT LEAP DAY? Yep, how about a rendezvous on 29 February 2028 where we check on one another and see how far we’ve come? Congratulate one another on the goals we’ve accomplished, encourage each other on the ones we’re still pursuing and the ones we’ve tweaked along the way, and say goodbye to the ones that no longer serve us?
While I’m still setting up my newsletter, please follow me on Instagram if you want to join me in this Leap Day Challenge of sorts. Maybe we call it Leap Day, Dream Day Challenge.
